About the Artist

Why I love to draw

I love to draw but more than anything I love to draw portraits, whether young old or something in between. I love drawing people because to me their faces tell a story, a young baby is a life yet to be lived, a old woman's face, so many stories, so many memories.
People bemoan their wrinkles and some of their scars, but these are formed over time by frowns, smiles, tears and different events in our lives. These events help shape and make us into the people we become. These moments whether happy or sad, the grief of the loss of a loved one, your child's first smile, steps, laugh all become etched into our faces and bodies through wrinkles and scars like words on pages in a book. Events you have overcome, your triumphs and yes even your failures, but it is your story, your life and that is amazing.
So the next time you look in a mirror and feel sad at a new wrinkle (or scar) and feel you are getting old. Don't feel sad, celebrate it and remember it is a memory, a moment captured in time and it is your story, you and that's an amazing thing to be proud of.
